Kroger Tomato Sauce on Sale
 

Kroger is selling eight-ounce cans of Kroger tomato sauce for $0.25 per can as part of their "case sale" this week from Sunday, February 8 to Saturday, February 14. That is a pretty good deal for tomato sauce as a gallon of tomato sauce works out to be $4.00 with the advantage of being able to open smaller amounts than a #10 can. I sure cannot can my own sauce for $4.00 per gallon.

The problem with that stuff is ... have you ever seen what it does to aluminium foil???

Yeah, but the cans are lined, so it is fine.

Does the tomato sauce contain high fructose corn syrup? That's usually the deal killer for me.

The average American now consumes 12 teaspoons per day in HFCS, and teenagers consume as much as 80 per day! This is one of the keys to the health epidemic.

the plastic from the lining leaks into the food. not sure how much or how serious, but it does happen.

Checked the label to be sure but the tomato sauce does NOT contain HFCS. The coating to protect the Al alloy is wax, not plastic.
